2023 NACTOY Car of the Year Finalists Announced: Ford Lightning is one of the pickup truck finalists

The annual LA Auto Show is upon us, which means the finalists for the NACTOY 2023, North American Car, Truck and SUV of the Year award, have been announced. This year, the focus in all three segments is more on electric vehicles than other options on the market.
Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevy Silverado ZR2 and Lordstown Endurance were finalists in the pickup truck category. It's fair to say the result is automatic because only those three pickups were eligible this year. Interestingly, the 50 jury members decided not to allow the Rivian R1S to be promoted, despite the fact that the R1T was one of the pickup finalists in the last competition. As for the SUV segment, the Cadillac Lyriq, Genesis GV60 and Kia EV6 have advanced to the finish line.
Finally, in the regular cars segment Acura Integra, Genesis Electrified G80 and Nissan Z entered the top three. The finalists highlight the industry's shift to electric vehicles as most of the winners are electric vehicles. Some other notable cars that didn't make it to the finals include Mercedes EQE, Subaru WRX and Toyota GR Corolla in the car category. Honda CR-V and Kia Sportage were also among the SUVs that didn't make it to the final.
The 2023 NACTOY winners will be announced on January 11 in Detroit.
