Ram has introduced an updated line of 1500 pickup trucks for 2025. While the update isn't revolutionary, its engine options will surprise many. Ram has taken a unique approach to propel the brand's pickup lineup into the era of electrification without leaving core ICE fans without their favorites.
First, the legendary 5.7-liter Hemi V8 will disappear from production in 2025. After 22 years under the hood of the Ram 1500, it will give way to the modern 3.0 Hurricane I6 twin-turbocharged engine. This engine will give owners two new options by 2025: a standard power (S/O, 420 horsepower and 635 Nm of torque) and high power (H/O, 540 horsepower and 706 Nm) variant. The S/O model will provide a maximum towing capacity of 5243.5 kg and a maximum payload of up to 866 kg; the high-performance H/O version, in turn, will be able to tow up to 4871 kg and transport up to 621 kg.
Also, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with eTorque will return in 2025 as the base powertrain. The Pentastar continues to produce 305 horsepower and 364 lb-ft of torque, while delivering a maximum towing capacity of 3,674 kg and a payload of up to 1,043 kg, depending on configuration. All three engines will continue to be paired with a smooth-shifting ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.
The 2025 Ram 1500 will receive a new integrated rear axle. The car will be available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. The Ram 1500 offers a choice of axle ratios: 3.21, 3.55 or 3.92, giving customers the ability to fine-tune the vehicle. An electronic locking rear differential, double wishbone front suspension, five-link rear suspension and 5 driving modes will help you off-road in a variety of difficult terrain conditions.
The Ram 1500 lineup will be further diversified with the introduction of the ultra-premium Ram Tungsten model, which will join the familiar Limited, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie and Tradesman. Ram 1500 Tungsten features include a power liftgate, premium LED taillights, premium platinum and suede interior, and a new R-A-M badge as a bonus.
2025 Ram 1500 will be available by the end of 2024.
