The next generation Ram 1500 TRX could get a Hurricane Turbo Six instead of a Hellcat V8. The company is considering this option to reduce costs and improve efficiency. The Hurricane's turbo-six is a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine that develops up to 550 horsepower and 677 Nm of torque. Of course, the numbers are less than the power of the current TRX.
With Ford also offering the F-150 Raptor R with a 700hp supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, Stellantis may be considering a strategy change with their next generation Ram TRX. We might see a standard TRX with a Hurricane TTI6 around 500hp and then a premium version with a Hellcat V8.
Don't forget that batteries can also be involved. The Ram 1500 lineup will offer an electric REV variant scheduled to debut in the 2025 model year. In addition, Ram CEO Mike Koval once mentioned in an interview that electrification of a powerful pickup truck like TRX is possible.
